As a wedding photographer in South Wales, I’m lucky to witness beautiful celebrations in stunning venues, and Charley and Rhys’ wedding at St Tewdrics House in Chepstow was one of those unforgettable days.
The Venue: St Tewdrics House
St Tewdrics House is a dream venue for any South Wales wedding photographer. The grandeur of this Italianate villa, surrounded by 10 acres of rolling countryside, provided the perfect backdrop for Charley and Rhys’ big day. The weather was flawless, giving us the best light throughout, with a breathtaking sunset that set the scene for some stunning evening photos in the wildflowers.
Getting Ready: Caban Y Coed and the Cottage
Charley and her bridal party got ready in Caban Y Coed, the new bride prep room at St Tewdrics. The space had a fresh, elegant vibe, and the natural light streaming in made for some beautiful pre-ceremony moments. Meanwhile, Rhys prepared for the day in the charming cottage, surrounded by his groomsmen, which allowed me to capture some candid shots of the guys in their element.
The Ceremony & Reception
As the couple exchanged vows, it was clear how much love filled the room. After the ceremony, guests were treated to an afternoon of entertainment by Adam Reeves, a talented magician who had everyone laughing and in awe with his tricks. This made for some brilliant, spontaneous photo opportunities that really captured the fun atmosphere.
The Details: Flowers, Styling, and the Dress
The finer details of the day were simply breathtaking. Charley’s bouquet, created by Catherine Gray Flowers, was a vision of beauty, perfectly complementing the soft romantic tones of the day. The venue styling, crafted by KB Event Styling, transformed the reception space into a sophisticated yet intimate setting. Charley’s dress, from Laura May Bridal, was a true showstopper, flowing elegantly as we captured portraits in the golden light of the evening.
Evening Entertainment: DJ, Sax, and Photobooth
When it came to the evening, the party kicked off with Grant from Boutique Disco providing the tunes. He was joined by Aimee Jay Sax, whose live sax performance added an electric vibe to the night. Guests couldn’t get enough, and the dance floor was packed! To top it all off, Ultrabooth brought the photobooth to the reception, offering guests a fun way to capture their own memories of the night, with a bit of carnage thrown in!
Sunset Photos in the Wildflowers
One of my favorite moments of the day was just as the sun began to set. Charley and Rhys joined me in the wildflower fields at St Tewdrics for some golden-hour portraits. The light was dreamy, creating a magical glow that highlighted their love and joy. It was the perfect way to close out an incredible day. St Tewdrics is epic for golden hour photos, all back-lit from the sun.
