Located in the heart of the Welsh countryside, Abergavenny, Sant Ffraed House is a beautiful and historic venue surrounded by stunning gardens. It is the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony, reception, and photographs. As a Sant Ffraed House wedding photographer, I had the privilege of capturing the magic of Emma & Scott’s special day there. As part of the Oldwalls collection of wedding venues. I wanted to photograph a wedding there as soon as I heard Oldwalls were opening a new venue, there has been such much excitement over it!
They have used a similar design to their K-Room at Fairyhill, Gower at Sant Ffraed to create a stunning reception area and bar overlooking the lake. In the evening it catches some stunning lighting into this room.
The day started in a beautiful Air B&B just down the road from the venue. Here I started with shots of the details, dress and the girls having hair and makeup. Emma had the most stunning Vivienne Westwood earrings I’ve ever seen. They make quite an impression in the photos.
The arrival at Sant Ffraed house is epic as you drive up the long road, and discover the iconic red brick house set through the trees, behind the lake. We had a little bit of time in the bridal suite to do a reveal with her father which was so emotional. I then spent a bit of time with Scott at the front of the ceremony room while he eagled awaited the arrival of Emma. I love how they make the entrance at Sant Ffraed, closing the doors after the last bridesmaid, and then opening for the bride and father to walk down the aisle. It really is quite the spectacle. The ceremony was beautiful, with a few laughs when Scott dropped the ring! and I had to stop it from rolling away!
After the ceremony we had a group shot of everyone on the iconic steps, followed by confetti and family photos. The K-Room was stunningly decorated ready for all the guests arrival.
I like to take the couples out a few times in the day and evening to catch different types of lighting in their photographs. Including that all important golden hour! Sant Ffraed House doesn’t disappoint with its evening golden light coming through the trees, perfect for that warm glow, natural light photography. So we had another wander around, with some real intimate moments with the happy couple. I love the emotion shown in their images, throughout the entire day. There was dance floor craziness and cigars and whiskies for the boys in the evening, which I love the capture. The day was fun packed and full of love. These guys were amazing.
